VISIT TO MARS.
A PSYCHIC TOURIST. DOCTOR’S STORY. SYDNEY, November 9. People generally accepted in a spiyt of cum crane salis the recent cablegram from London, telling the dramatic story of a man’s psychic visit to Mars, but at least one individual—a Sydney 'doctor, who does not hesitate to sign his full name—bears out the "Martian psychic tourist, in a letter in the open columns of the Press. Tins is what he says:—“Two years ago, as many of my friends can bear witness, 1 paid a psychic visit to Mars, and there met several people whom I can see now—tail, well-proportioned men and women, all dressed in vivid blue robes, and served by the most" wonderful machines, unlike any machine I have seen on earth. The language of these people consisted of a series of ululations similar, to whistling., Their ears worn enormous and unevenly crinkled. But here I must differ from the gentleman who has just recounted his experiences, for all thei Martians whom ,1 met had well-developed trunks about IS inches .in length, which they use for conveying food to their mouths and for talking.” Enormous crinkled cars, well-de-veloped trunks. It sounds very much like the descriptions of babv elephants. But there, is the doctor's story, take it or leave it. The letter is signed “Dr. R. . Bclais.” Psychic parties, it may be interesting to state, are a growing feature of Sydney’s life. These little assemblages, not for pecuniary gain, but to foster the spiritualist movement, and to stem the materialistic tide, are held in practically all tho better-class suburbs, and are attended by representatives of all professions. They are not confined to mere table-rapping, but 'they are quite up-to-date, with all the latest tests for mediums. Although -little is heard of the movement, Sydney can fairly be regarded as the centre of modern spiritualism in Australia.
