A number of business men, including Lord Inchcape, Lord Gainford, and Lord Doverdale, and Sir Hugo Bell, Sir Felix Schuster, and Sir Ernest Bonn, under the auspices of the National Association of Alerchants and Ala nu lecturers, ui. animously adopted a resolution ai proving recommendations to the World Economic Conference in 1927. in favor of it ; substantial reduction ir tariffs, and requesting the League of Nations to urge upon Government? the necessity' of carrying out the ncommendations with the least possible deifiy. . . . , Sir 'Walter Runeiman emphasised the. fact that 14,000 miles of tariff frontiers had been erected since 1919. However distressed some Brit sh industries might be, freedom from restrictions would be best for them.
