Welcome on his return from Sydney and congratulated on his recovery from illness 'were extended to the chairman of the Waikoliu County Council, Mr. T. R. Spence, at the monthly meeting yesterday by Cr. A. A. Fraser.

. Regret will be felt by a wide circle of friends to hear that Miss Florence' Pack©, daughter.of Canon and Mrs. H. Paeke, sustained an accident on Saturday. While running on the beach, she tripped and fell, breaking a small bone in her leg.

The Sydney Morning Herald in its social columns, announces the engagement, of Marion,,, the- younger daughter of Mr T. Lowry, of Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, to Dr. Reginald H.
