An announcement that Senatore Marconi is ready to begin wireless telephony to Australia elicited a disclosure that ■ the matter does not rest in Marconi’s hands. Meanwhile, Britain is consulting the Governments of India Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, with a view to co-operating independently with Marconi. It is unofficially understood that British legislation authorising the merger will allocate cables and wireless’ exclusively to the merger, but will reserve telephony, both national and. inter-imperial, for tho exclusive control of the Post Office, in co-op-eration with the Dominions, for which considerable plant has already been mustered., EXPERIMENT TO BE REPEATED United Preea Assn by El.
