Through apparatus by which the electrical impulse is controlled by a beam of light, a narrow beam was cast about an Atlantic hotel room and changed into music and held under perfect control at will by John Taylor, consulting engineer for the General Electric Company. The equipment used is known as the photophone, built on old principles with a perfected photo electric tube, electric pick-up, new amplifiers and sound reproducers.
