“FOR ALL CLASSES.”

MB. COATES DESCRIBES REFORM’S PROGRAMME. (Special to the Times.) AUCKLAND Oct, 29. Examining the political situation in tlia course of his. Town Halt speech, ,Mr Coates said . the term “solid and . fairly proportioned, as used by one newspaper with reference to the Government’s manifests, well-described the Government policy, which was unquestionably one m the interests of the whole public. Disaffected members of the so-called “Country Party” mighfi allege, untruthfully, that the Government had been too much exercised about tho welfare of the people in the. cities. Some’ disgruntled persons in the oities asserted that the Government had been more concerned for fanners than other sections of the community..' Some Conservative Npw Zealanders declared that, the Government had been too Socialistic, while Socialists said that it had been too Tory. From such contradictory opinions, the public could draw only one right conclusion, which was that the Government’s policy had been* one for the public as a whole, with an attitude strictly against the unfair favoring of any section.
