The Dominion Meteorologist’s summary and forecast are as follows: Conditions are still dominated by an extensive cyclone, in which there are two centres, one lieing located north of Auckland l , and the other east of Hawke’s Bay. With a rising pressure in the southern districts, the gradient has steepened considerably. South-east to south winds, strong to ga'c force but decreasing shortly, s.-as heavy between East Cape and Akaroa and on the west coast of the North Island; elsewhere rough in New. Zealand waters. Strong southerly winds with rough seas in the eastern Tasman, Cut winds and seas decreasing. Fair to cloudy, with isolated showers in Westland and Otago, and some inland parts in the latter district; elsewhere weather stdl cold, unsettled and squally, with rain. Further heavy falls in many parts of the North Island and the noitli-east portion of the South Island, with some Hooding, but conditions probably improving during Thursday.
