In order to reach Coromandel, lie had to ride five miles in a cream waggon and walk n> miles along a rough road. In the course of the week, Mr. McGregor vis ted many centres on the Peninsula, much "of his travelling being done in chance conveyances, including launches. He has estimated that, in all, lie walked over 40 miles much of the way over hilly bridle tracks.
