LABOR LEADER AT WAIROA. VIGOROUS FIGHTING SPEECH (Press Association.! WAIROA, Oct. 30. Mr Holland, Leader of the Opposition, addressed one of the largest meetings ever held in Wairoa, receiving a most enthusiastic reception. Hi^'speech was a vigorous fighting cipe, and was frequently, punctuated jmth applause. He followed closely on ’tho lines of his New Plymouth address, giving a clear indication of the Labor Party’s views, castigating the Reform Government for its alleged sins of commission and omission. He stressed Labor’s land policy, condemned the high interest rates, and alleged the Government was in the hands of the associated hanks and financial institutions, which dictated its financial policy* He strongly criticised the tax reductions, and asserted that land speculation and aggregation were encouraged by the Government, which had wrecked the dairy co-operative marketing scheme. He advocated prosecuting remuneratice public works, and standard wages for relief of unemployed. He ridiculed the system of accounting, and roundly condemned the iniquitous Orders-in-Council and the playing with the Licensing Bill. He received a unanimous vote of thanks.
