To-day’s game saw England’s bowlers completely subjected by the S'outh Australians, Richardson . arid Pritchard.’ .There was a good wicket, and faster than’tha'previous day’s. Tim weather was brilliant. The pair broke the record for a second-wicket .partnership of 192 for South Australia v. England. They , attacked vigorously from the start, hitting hard and, were untroubled by the English which .presented' no difficulties to them. Pritchard and Richardson added 255 for the second wicket in 176 minutes. Pritchard hit eleven fours in a bright, forceful cUsplay. He was dismissed when attempting-to -pull White into the grandstand. ‘ Richardson made a magnificent showing, hitting hard in all directions. He reached 200 amid wild applause. It was his highest Score in first-class matches his. previous best being 15.7 against New South Wales in; 1926. His prospects of playing in test cricket have been considerably brightened. His innings lasted 307 minutes. He hit Twenty-seven fours.

Next Saturday will see the official opening of tlie cricket season in Poverty Bay, when the first series oi games in the opening round ef the senior grade competition are set down to be played. At a meeting of the executive of the Poverty'Bay Association last evening details regarding the official opening were arranged and the draw for the matches made. X Mr R. E. Maude was in the chair and other delegates present were : Messrs A. G. Seddon, J. M. Kay, («. V. Lynex, W. Bignell, F. Bennett, G. J. McGregor, A. Baker, V. It. C. Mitford, Dr Muir and the lionsecretary, Mr It. Gumming. Xt was resolved that' the president, Mr W. F. Cederwall, he asked to officiate at the opening ceremony ai the Oval on Saturday,, that all sup porters of the game be invited to attend and that afternoon tea be supplied free to visitors. The draw for senior games next Saturday was made as follows: — Turangamii v. High School, No. t wicket; umpires, Messrs Thomson and Martin. Celtic v. City, No. 2, Messrs Schwa be and Wilkes. Civil Service y. Old Boya, No. 5, Messrs Sharp and Airev. Gisbdrne Club v. Poverty Bay Club, No. 4, Messrs A. Guthrie and C. Somervell. Time for starting play throughout the season was fixed at 2 p.m. sharp, nlay to cease at 6.15, except during December and January, when the closing time is extended to .6.30. Tiie grounds committee, reported Idiat the ground was in very good order, that the rolling had been completed and that the wickets were ready for the opening. Regarding an umpires’ association if was decided to cal] a meeting at the 'ground on Saturday when the question of forming an association will lie discussed. Gisborne Club were granted the use of a wicket on November 30 for their inter-club match against Poverty Bay. ■■ Mr E. S. Luttrell was elected Poverty Bay delegate to the New Zealand Cricket Council. - It 'was pointed out that affiliation fees were due from clubs by-Novem-ber 1 and also that all players must be registered before talcing part in the play. Reference was made to the Thursday competition and it was decided to' take further steps to start this at as.earlv a date as possible. The matter of the junior competition will lie finally settled at the next meeting. MR M. GUTHRIE APPOINTED SELECTOR, ’There was a diversity of opinion tvheii the' question of appointing a selector for rep. teams was brought up. Messrs Mitford and McGregor and Dr Muir opposed the recommendation from the annual meeting that a sole selector be appointed, but. on a vote, it was decided to give effect to the recommendation. Two names came forward for the position and Mr M. Guthrie was appointed.
