Lyon, Captain Lancaster, and Mr George Palmer Putman, the noted publisher and explorer, hopped off on a ’flight to Bermuda. Mr Putmau. who is understood to be financing the flight, took the place of Mrs Keith Miller. The plane is carrying sufficient petrol for an IS hours’ journey. If it is without incident it should not consume more than ten hours. Much surprise was expressed at the lateness of the departure, which occurred at 1.30 o’clock in the afternoon, -and due to -the-shortness -of tho autumnal day the flight will be made for the greater part in darkness.
MACHINE FORCED DOWN IN SHALLOW WATER

New Jersey,! states that .Captain Lancaster’s piano was forced down in shallow water through engine trouble. It struck HI the mud, necessitating an hour’s work to extricate it, after which it flow to an air port, where Captain Lancaster stated he intends to fly to the naval air station at Hampton Roads to-morrow to repair the motor thoroughly. Ho will then proceed to Bermuda.
