“I was rather amused." stated Mr Lissant Clayton, the United Party candidate at Mangapapa last- night, ”at the way the reverential press, alter Mr K. S. Williams’ meeting at Tokomaru Bay, headed an article ‘Mr Clayton rebuked.’. It was untended to make me shrivel up and fade away, hut I did not shrivel up nor fade away. No one likes to criticise Mr K. S. Williams; he. is such a good fellow; everybody says so—the farmers, the workers, and his constituents all do. I am sorry I hurt his feelings by not including him amongst the Ministers of ability in this country whom I mentioned previously. Of course, it was nice of Mr Williams to say it was -wrong of me to criticise Mr Coates, but" it shows that he has not read what is happening "m other countries. There all the leaders are criticised. My criticism was not personal and a man in Mr Coates’ position is open to criticism.
