MAYOR ON STRIKE.
WALKED OUT OF MEETING
When the Mayor of Forbes, New Smith Wales (Aid. A. B. Twogood) refused to. call a special meeting of the Municipal Council to deal with imnortant loan and works matters, Adormen A. J. Meagher, F. Smith, and W. ’Thomson took matters into their , own hands, ami authorised the town c;!oik to.call a meeting.
If was duly l>."! and the urgent business transacted. Tho Mayor created surprise at the next meeting of the council, when he walked out of the hall when a quorum was present. He did not utter a word, and ft was thought that he would return later. After waiting 20 minutes, an officer, and Inter Alderman Meagher, went in quest of h:m. Both found him in the sireet, talking, but he refused to return, and the meeting perforce, ended. Tlie other aldermen expressed their vexation because a large deputation of mon from all ovr- • tho d:- met, and even from as far away as Parkes had gathered to put a proposition to the council-
