According to the Lnkal Anzeiger, German steel firms are protesting against an arrangement negotiated between British nnc! French steel firms, whereby British firms supply armour plate for French warships, while French firms supply the light steel required for British warship construction. German firms raised the question at a meeting of the steel cartel, at which the French replied that war material was excluded from tho restrictive clauses. The Germans argued i hat this exception 'did not apply to war material produced for export.
