The Norwegians manning the Hcktoria were a splendid lot, strong, willing and brave, and greatly assisted in”tlie careful stowing of tho aeroplanes and impedimenta. This' was essential because success and lives depended upon this factor. Everyone at Month Video had boon most kind. By starting that day it would mean flint the expedition would reach the Antarctic —a land of blizzards, immense ice harriers, and frozen mountains—hv the middle of November. “We are happy to be en route to the fringe of that Domain,” tho message states, “and are confident wo can wrest from Mother Earth what is probably her last big secret.”

COMMANDED BYRD’S PLANS. C. A. LARSEN TO CALL AT WELLINGTON. (Press Association.) DUNEDIN. Oct. 27. The Byrd expedition ships have now altered their course. A radio message from Commander Byrd states that the steamer C. A. Larsen is carrying supplies for the expedition, and inputting in at Wellington. Fifteen men of the expedition, including the business manager, Air. Richard Brophv, are aboard the Larsen. Alembers of the expedition will stav in Dunedin before leaving' for the Antarctic.
