The outbreak was apparently due to careless workmen, who were restoring the roof, which is now fully ablaze. The .damage will be enormous, and it is feared that the-st-oue vaulting may collapse into the- nave of the church, often considered the choicest architectural treasure of belgium owing to its five graceful towers, which it was'Tea red would collapse. Hdwever, it is now hoped that this danger is past, as a. rainstorm is helping the firemen to extinguish the fire.
