MORERE OIL BORE.

OPERATIONS TO CEASE. STRATA UNFAVORABLE. The Mangaone well, however,, may yet prove the means of tapping the oil wel] which, geologists state, probably exists beneath Morere. The company’s announcement yesterday was couched in the following terms: . “Gisborne - No. 1 Well: Unable to overcome caving -.with, existing equipment. This is the third bore in the ■neighborhood 'of Gisborne wj,iereat operations have been, suspended after the expenditure of a. considerable sum ■■ of money on-the work. The other two were in the "Wfeinpu district./and the same trouble was experienced as _at Morere, the strata formation proving a bar to further progress despite good indications of oil. • .
