UNUSUAL DEVELOPMENT IN COURT CASE. MAGISTRATE STATES DEPENDANT COMMITTED PERJURY. ALL DOCUMENTS IMPOUNDED. (Press Assooiation.) DANNEVIRKE, Oct. 24. There was an unusual development in a case in the. Magistrate’s. Court to-day in which two builders, both of Dannevirke, wore the principals. James Joseph Anderson proceeded against James Humphreys for £62 17s. being balance alleged to bo duo in connection with a building - contract. Defendant, in evidence, alleged that he had made, two payments to Anderson of £SO each and had obtained receipts tor the same. A witness was called who said Humphreys had asked him to give evidence- bn his behalf against Anderson to say that he had seen Humphreys hand over £SO to Anderson. Witness said he had told Humphreys it tv as absolute perjury and he was not going, to risk getting six months in gaol. He had never been a witness of such a transaction. His Worship'declared that he disbelieved defendant’s evidence. 110 was most unreliable, and his evidence was most unsavoury. Defendant had committed perjury, and his Worship made an order that all documents in the case be impounded pending further inquiry. Judgment, on the claim was given for plaintiff for £6O,
