GREYMOUTH. Oct. 23

■ Andrew Kell, an orderly married man employed at Ogilvie’s mill, Gladstone siding, while tarrying iron across' the yard this morning, was knocked down by a locomotive. Both thighs and the left arm were fractured. He was sent to hospital, bait died almost immediately.

An inquest was held this morning before Mr A. M. Mowlem, S.M•, into the‘circumstances surounding the death of John Emerson Pickering, aged 23, who died in hospital on Monday morning,; as the result of injuries received in a motor accident' some davs previously, Deceased •vyas found in" the middle of the road between Napier and Hastings at 3.30 one morning in an unconscious condttioft; arid' his car .was capsized on the wrong side of' the road. It was assorted from the wheel marks that Pickering momentarily dozed, and awoke to find the car going off the left hand .side of the road, Deceased then probably pulled the wheel sharply round, with the result that the car skidded, and rolled over sideways. A man who was found hanged at kotoorangi on August 8 was identified at the inquest at Hamilton today as Herbert Young, an English seaman. is believed to have no relatives in New Zealand.
