CITY CLUB
Tile official opening of the 192 b season of the City Tennis Club tool; place on the Carnarvon Street courts on Saturday afternoon. About 70 enthusiasts were present and as the weather was ideal for play a most enjoyable time was spent. ■ ■ - In a happy opening speech tho Club’s president, Mr Frank Wise, remarked on the splendid condition of the courts and congratulated the committee on the results of their efforts. He expressed pleasure at tho large inliux of new members and said he felt confident that- the club was starting its most successful year. He extended a welcome to the visitors present and in declaring' the courts open wished all a pleasant day’s sport. In the course of the afternoon icecream and a dainty afternoon tea was served by the ladies’ committee.
