fSpecial to the Times.') TOKOMARU BAY, Oct. IS. Uii Thursday afternoon a large number of ladie s gathered at the Mission House, Tokomaru Bay. to meet the Rev. DavFl C-alder, 8.A., General Secretary of the above Society. The Rev\ Stewart conducted the opening service and introduced the visitor. The Rev. Calmer who has only recently returned from a missionary conference in Jerusalem, gave a very interesting and instructive address on his travels. At the conclusion of one hour’s most enjoyable address afternoon tea was served. The Rev. OaJder then proposed a vote of tranks to Miss Davis, Maori Missioner, for the use of the room. PERSONAL. Miss Pepper and Mi’s. Mclnteer have left on a holiday to Thames. Mr. T. W. D. (Mick) Buchanan left the Bay this morning to return to his duties at Rawcne. 1 Mr. D’Arcy Walden who has been an inmate of the Te Puia Hospital for some weeks-, suffering from a poisoned hand, is progressing favorably. Mrs. R. J. Stevens is at present holidaying in Thames. . BRIDGE EVENING. A very enjoyable ladies’ bridge evening was held on Wednesday evening at tr-e Residence of Mrs. J. L.. Grant, Bautanoa. Five tables were requisitioned and -games were very keenly contested, the winner being Mrs. Baird. Mrs. Carroll received the consolation prize. A dainty supper was dispensed. Among those present were Mesdames Todd, Doig, Gambrill, Thompson, Baird; J. Oates, G. Oates, N. Oates, Moore, Johnston, Mclnteer (senr.), Carroll, Hanlon, Angus Kay, Puttett and Lindsay; Misses Grant, Robertson, 15. Burdett and O. Oates.
