MAJESTIC THEATRE

“CONFETTI” AND “THE POOR NUT. ’ ’—TO-NIGHT’S CARNIVAL BILL.

So groat was the success of “Confetti,” the English production, and “The Poor Nut,” the latter a special comedy, at the Majestic on Saturday last, that these tine pictures will be shown again to-night at that popular picture, rendezvous. “Confetti” is largely a story of carnival times. It begins with a masquerade, drifts into reality, but terminates on a plane of make-believe. The story is played out to its end in the sunny lands of Southern Europe., and tells how an old woman, the Grand Duchess Maxine, brings much trouble to young people by her penchant for matchmaking. But youth rises her scheming, and in the end the old lady, who has a grudge against fate because in her youth she ms torn from the arms of her lover and forced to marry for wealth, admits that she is a “very .wicked old woman.” The carnival scenes are a spectacle of gorgeous, splendour. “The Poor Nut” with Jack Mulhall and Charlie Murray, supported by Janei Winton and Jean, Arthur, is one of .the comedy hits of the year. “The Poor 'Nut” is a fine, clean comedy of college life and stands out as one of the most farcical college romances of the season. There is a lot of good, clean fun. realistic college • atmosphere, track meets at which several famous track stars are seen in. person.. It is a mighty fine picture. Additional bn the programme is an excellent comedy, and a News Gazette.
