United Pres? Assn, by El. Tel. CopyrlEb* , (Australian /Press Assn.) (Received Oct. 21, 5.5 p.m.)
LONDON, Oct. 20
Mr Lloyd George, replying to Lore! Morley’s Memoirs, said itwas difficult freely to express an opinion, because the author was dead; Allowance must be made for the fact that he wrote in a moment of petulance, when-he found himself alone, but lie distorted the facts. Members of tho Liberal Cabinet, with the exception of .Mr Burns, were in complete agreement that, if Belgium were invaded, the position was completely changed. Lord Morley did not dissent from this, when it was clear Germany so intended. The position was put to Lord Morley, who agreed, adding—
"If war comes. I am useless in Cabinet, because I have not a war mind. I shall, therefore, resign.” Lord -Geqrge also said : "it was Lord Morley who deserted the Liberals. So far as Mr Burns was concerned, it is. mv recollection that he opposed war under every contingency.”
