ROUND The mountain race < NEW 'RECORD CREATED

NEW PLYMOUTH, Oct. 21. The annual "‘round the mountain” cycle ' road race was won to-day by C. Lehrake off 3min., While N. Bellringer (New Plymouth) gained fastest time and a record for tho race, 4 hours- 29min. 53see. for a'ninety-five and a-liait mile course. The first seven places were filled by New Plymouth riders. Of 48 entrants from all over tho Dominion 45 started. The weather conditions were fairly good and the road better than ever, being ismooth bitumen practically tho Whole distance, though numerous bills have to bo negotiated. McCann (Nlew Plymouth), a previous winner crashed when five miles from home. The first to finish were, with actual times (all being New Plymouth riders where not otherwise mentioned): G. Bellringer (Imin.) 4.29.53. 1 R, Yardley (lOmin.) 4.29.54. W, T. Weir (Christchurch) lOmin) 4.29.54. The next to finish were.: W.' K. Francis (Papakura), L. Gargen (Riverlea), A. C. Hill (Christchurch), A. Ellis-(New Plymouth), W. Prebble (Christchurch), aod J. Lindop (Auckland).
