MR. McLENNAN’S PUPILS
An excellent' exhibition of dancing by pupils of Mr. D.. McLennan,’ assisted by well-known local artists, vyas given in the jCjify,.. Hall last, evening. Thc ; entertainment was of' a high standard, tho youhg performers dancing 'exceedingly well, reflecting great crediti on the teacher, Air. .McLennan. The attendance, however, was very disappointing. All. the perfcrmci's received.. well merited applause, practically every itfeln.'' being encored, the public not • being slow in showing their appreciatlion of fho entertainment. ,

' " ' ' The. dancing sections, needless'to say, occupied the greater part of the programme, • and. some excellent exhibitions .were-given, the children appearing to enjoy themselves to tho utmost-. An attractive ballet vas given by: Joy and Betty Sharpe, Edith Livingstone, Nancy Parker, Kathleen Persion, Kathleen Hogan, Frank Leckie, and Colleen Peiston, and another ballot by' the tiny tots. Other dances were- contributed By tho following: Classic find Chinese .character. l.sobel' Sharpies; “Coster” and sword dance, Aileen Bryan; Dutch dance and Irish 3ig. Flora Johnstone; Greek and Ruthernian, Colleen Perston ;. operatic . dance and gavotte, Aileen, Curtis; Irish jig by. Heather Mclvor; Russian' dance and sailor’s, hornpipe. hj T John Tliodej"; strathspey and reel, bv the junior pupils; eean triubhais by Flora Johnstone and Eileen Curtis; Highland fling by fsohel Sharpies and Aileen Bryan; an Irish duo by Colleen and Kathleen Rerston, and the Bccd o’Tullock by selected pupils. ' f The adult items wiero given by some of the prizewinners: at the recent 'competitions, and proved very popular. Aliss Grace Clare sang “Cornin’ Thro’ the Rve,” and ,:‘Y7ilanellc” YY r altz Song from “Ffiust”, and “The- Pipes of Pan.” Aliss Iris Let to contributed ;an Irish song with violin obligato, “La Serenade”; Atur--121 Aloi - timer appeared in two clever r.ongs in costume; and Air. H. Johns yas heard in “Drake Goes YY/est.” In the elocutionary portion ol the fin f. pit a i nin’ent, . Peggy Lange ec-rtri-buted “Laugh and Be Merry” and “The Little Scottish Martyrs” ; and David Leo was heard in a humorous Irish recitation and in fv selected number.
