MONTHLY STUCK SALES

Ufunivi, Oct. 5Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on the monthly stock sale held m Opotiki saleyards yesterday as follows: We had a large yarding <n cattle, our entries being 3i3 ImaL The attendance of buyers was large. Practically everything was sold under the hammer, witn keen competition at prices on a par with the pievious sale No sheep were entered. We quote: Grown steers.£B to Lio 10s-, 2-yr steers £7 16s to £8 ss, i-yr steers £5 to £6 9s, fat cows £lO to £lO 10s, forward cows £5 16s to £b ss, store , cows £3 to £4 ss, springing heifers £6 to £9 lUs, yearling he.fcrs £3 to £4 16s. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd-, report a lull yarding of cattle, most of which rcas of interior quality and a small yarding of sheep. There was a small attendance of buyers. The following prices were realised: Shorn 4 and b-th wethers 265, woolly do 34s IK*. Cattle.—3-yr steers to £7 17s fid, 2-yr to £6 10s', 1 yearlings £2 los. 2-yr dairy heifers £4 Is, fat cow s to £7 10s, store cows £3 15s to £o, yearling heilors £3 Store pigs made to 37s- fid. THEFT OF MUNEx. A young man employed in a loeai office appeared to-day before a justice of the peace at the u/cul Police Court on remand, charged with stealing from his employers the sum of £32 9s Sd on September 13th, and £2O 5s Id on September 21st. Evidence was given by a Wliakatane oitice manager that .be received statcmeuts from the accused showing that the above sums should have been paid into the bank at Upotiki, but on making inquiries lie found) they bad not been banked. Witness interviewed tho police and accused at Opotiki, the latter making a confession that ho had used the money. Accused pleaod guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court, Auckland, for sentence. Mr A. L. Arrowsmith, representing accused, ap plied’ for suppression of the name, and the request was granted.
