FATHER FINN fT’re»s ABsonlntion.* AUCKANR. Mav 21. The Rev. Father Reginald Patrick Finn died suddenly last night afc fir,. Patrick's Presbytenh He complained during flic evening ol feeling unwell, but chatted with fellow priests till 11 p.m.. when lie retired to bed. Father Finn was found dead in his room this morning, the cause being heart failure. TTe was born in Gisborne 42 vears ago and "•ns ordained in Sydney in 1911. He returned from Sydney in 1927 to his parent’s home in Tauranga. The. late. Father Finn was the third and youngest son of, Airs, and the late Mr H,. -J. Finn, of Gisborne. Deceased gained his earlier education at the Gislxirne High School. Since entering the priesthood lie had been a resident of Auckland. MR JOHN COOK Mr John Cook, fermerlv of the staff of the Rank of New Zealand, whose death has occurred at Tafcapunn, Auckland, was - a native ol Aberdeen, his father. Mr John Cook, being the owner of one of the shipping lines engaged in trade with the South. Pacific colonies 50 years ago. Mr Cook received his training as a banker in the Chartered Mercantile 'link, London. He arrived in Auckland in 1R79, and entered the sor-vK-e of tlie Rank of New Zealand, which then had its head office in Auckland. Afterwards he served the bank in various narts of New Zealand eventually becoming manager of the Ashburton branch. In later ’•ears he was' a relieving manage] - , in 1919 he retired, and since then had lived at Takapuna. Mr Cook was a keen supporter of acclimatisation work, and took an active interest in the Auckland branch of the 'Navy League, being honorary secretary for some time. Ho is survive* by (arvo Sftis and one daughter, Mr W. A. Cook, now in Leicestershire, .Mr AY. D. Cook, farmer, of Ngatana. Poverty Rav, and Mrs C. G. J. Wily, of Milford.
