WELLINGTON, April 18. The Dominion Meteorologist’s evening forecast is a® follows: — The southern 'depression is now centred south of Chatham Islands. An intense anti-cyclone extends from Australia to the western portion of New Zealand, arid is moving slowly, eastward. ■ Moderate to strong west to south winds, decreasing, gradually from tile northwards; seas rather to very, rough south of New Plymouth and Akaroa, but moderate in Cook Strait and elsewhere. Smooth to moderate, south-westerly winds arid moderate seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Wen-* tlier cloudy, on the west coas tml the South Island and in Otago with somo further showers but improving, and elsewhere fair to fine. Fine weather probable over most of the Dominion for several days, with cold night temperatures and some inland frosts.
