WELLINGTON, Last .Night. The Dominion Meteorologist’s evening forecast is as follows: A rather intense depression of the westerly type is moving rapidly towards the South Island. Strong north to west winds reaching gale force in places, backing to southerly later; rough to high seas south of Cape Egmont and Castlepoint, elsewhere moderate to rather rough. Cloudy, unsettled and squally, with rain in the western and southern districts, and becoming more general with a cool change soon.
