ELECTRICAL COOKING

ftEMOKSTUAmiN liY Jilts , IUURIN3TON.

Keen interest was displayed by the womenfolk of Gisborne in the first demonstration of electrical cooking given in the Poverty Bay Power Board’s showroom yesterday. , The showroom has been well equipped with all the latest in electrical appliances, including a line display of electric ranges, which, besides making a very imposing exhibition, are very adaptable for demonstrating purposes. ine instructress, Mrs E. Barrington, of Wellington, is not unknown in Poverty Bay, her lectures on electrical cooking from the Wellington radio station liaviug been heard by many Poverty Bay Ustenevs-m. Apart from' that,'she is one of the best known demonstrators in tho Dominion, where she has undertaken a, considerable amount of; tliis work, and also in Australia. The first demonstration given yesterday was kigely attended, the demonstrator explaining in an interesting fashion how each dish should be made and cooked with the- latent heat of the oven. She revealed that it was a. complete fallacy, wasteful and unnecessary, to cook glectrically with the switches as some people wl o have just had ranges are now doing. During her week's . visit Mrs Barrington will, on request, visit homes where an electric range lias i con installed and where tho occupants tire not" familiar with the operation and instruct them in its use. Mrs Barrington will also demonstrate the use of electrical washing machines and will give two night demonstrations as well as further day demonstrations in electrical cooking whilst in Gisborne.
