GHOSTS IN COUPLES
TAPPING SPIRITS OF A VILLAGE WOMAN IN WHITE. AND DEFORMED MAN' WITH $ BIG HEAD. i Guilsborough, Northampton, is haunted. It lias, according to the inhabitants, not one ghost but many. One was walking last month. A young woman heard it tap, tap, tapping along the goad in front of her. She came upon it, and it was dressed in white. “I followed the, figure,” she said, “‘and had almost reached it when it vanished. I could have dropped with astonishment.” Another young girl 'declares that she- has also seen the tapping ghost, “I was walking near the old burial ground” she said, “when suddenly it appeared. It had the features o a haughty woman,. while its skin was all wrinkled. I got so frightened that I ran into a shop, but when I ventured out again it had vanished.’ y Guilsborough is said by its oldest residents _to have been haunted by this particular ghost for generations. Another ghost which lias been seen in Guilsborough is described as being tall arid thin, quite naked, with long spidery,arms and; legs, huge hands and feet, and with a white and strange face. The man who saw this •apparition declares its eyes were fixed on him with a curious stare (which later turned! into a look of unholy glee. - ; So terrible did it look that he fled. “When lie looked round again it had vanished. . ( . Then there aro the ghosts who go about together. They appear periodically, and a man was sitting in the house one night,about one o’clock the sounds of hammering . startled him. v ... ,-, - ; “Ifdokirig up, I saw coming thl'ough the wall of the room facing inejfigures of a man and woman,” he said. “The man was short and possessed a big-head, and appeared to be deformed, but the woman was very upright.:. I was so unnerved that 1 dashed out of the room. When 1 returned some minutes - later I !'the room was empty . ”
