A veritable Wizard’s Tower is being completed at. Croydon, which will make London the foremost air terminal in the world. From this tower three men, an Air Ministry traffic offic-er, n wireless operator, and a meteorologist, will exercise, day and night, control over air expresses fl.vlog hundreds of miles. They will even sleep in the tower. The per r fected wireless will tell the pilots their whereabouts, and guide them to Croydon in the face of the blackest fogs. A sensitive indicator will print a visible record of the .slightest fluctuations in the wind. The aerodrome will he illuminated by signs do flash messages to pilots waiting to take off for Europe, when it is permissible for them to rise. .Switches will control a wonderful system of lighting the landing grounds below. Rocking clerks will issue tickets for places as far distant as ‘Copenhagen. Moscow, Constantinople. and Northern Africa.— A. and N.Z.O.A.
