EFFECT ON BRITISH IRON- AND RAILS. QUESTIONS IN THE COMMONS. LONDON,' Nov. 30. Questioned as to the now Australian -..tariff on iron and .steel, particularly the . increased duties against British exports of.such items as bariron, iron and steel tubes, and rails, Captain Hacking, Under-Secretary ol Overseas Trade, said he was awaiting full details of these new duties and other proposals of the Commonwealth Government, and on receipt of tins fuller information the question of whether any representations to the Commonwealth Government could usefully bo made would be considered. He added that this country received preference, and would continue to receive preference.—British Official
