In April, 1884. the well-known clnef Te 'Warn of "YVairoa died at his place of exile near Whakatane He and ],;<■ followers smrendered to the Government in 1865, were pardoned and soni- swore future allegiance, ''hen To Ino',ti and Ids pnnnle oS"nned fion* tW Chnthnins in .1868 Te J T aru and his people ■ joined - them. Two^ years later he again:became eaphre to the'Government .and .wav exiled; to the P,nv of Plenty upon a small piece of Ofown land.
