Sir James Parr, High Commisjoiiei for New Zealand, was the chief guest at the Imperial overseas dinner at Cairo, 'while eu route to Palestine for the unveiling of the war memorial at the Mount of Olives.— A. and N.Z.O.A.
Te Karaka residents gate.: red in Mr Krause's Hall (which tlu wner had loaned for the occasion , on Thursday evening to Viidi farewell to Mr G. Robertson, of the. railway station staff, who has been transferred oil promotion to Auckland. Some twenty members of the cricket club, of which Mr Robertson was captain, were among those present. Mr J\ Moore, on behalf of the cricket and other friends, pre seated their guest with a fountain pen in a case and' wished him the liest- of luck in his new, homo. Mr H. Harkef also presented Mr Robertson with a beau-tiful-.'bouquet of flowers and a work box, for Mrs Robertson, and extended the best wishes for her continued happiness in Auckland. Several other speakers added their quota of regrets at the departure of Mr and Mrs Robertson and then "For They are Jolly-Good B’ellows” was sung with vim. Mr .Robertson suitably responded. He left for Auckland .by tho Wainui on Saturday morningj-
