BID FOR LIBERTY

OUTWITTED THE POLICE

PRISONER’S' CLEVER ESCAPE.

FOURTH “GETAWAY.”

(.United Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received April 7, 7 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 7. A prisoner, Herbert Stanley, made a sensational escape from Darlinghurst Courthouse. He was brought from prison to receive sentence, and was waiting in the corridor below the dock, when he obtained permission from the constable to visit the lavatory. Failing his return, it was discovered that he had made his way up into the adjoining empty Court, through the trap-door ;in the dock, which had, inadvertently, been left open. Thence he reached the street and got clear away. This is Stanley’s fourth escape from custody, twice effecting a getaway by jumping from moving trains.—TJ.P.A.
