(United Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received April 6, 9 p.m.) LONDON, April 5. The House of Commons is discussing the Pacific Cable Bill in committee. Mr Hartshorne approved of its, socialistic principles. Mr Wheatley asked if the Board’s' capital expenditure was in any way limited. Mr L. C. M. S. Amery pointed out that unusual expenditure required the sanction of the Dominions’ Governments, who did not encourage extravagance. Mr J. R. Kirkwood moved to reduce tho .chairman’s salary from £lO3l to £SOO. He argued that the Board only met ten times yearly, for about an hour. The debate was adjoui'ned.—A.N.Z.C.A.
