REPRESENTATIVE CRICKET

(To the Editor.) Sir,—l take this opportunity of criticising, through your columns, the selector’s choice m his selection of the local representative team to plav the Countrv Districts .on Saturday. Surely, Mr Editor, this is not the pick of the local cricket talent in the Bay? It must be an insult to some who are deserving or places in preference to some of those mentioned in your last issue. One. as myself, who has followed the game and the merits of individual “players in the' district for nranv vears cannot but help think that tliis is but a scratch team. , One cannot but help miss the names \ of Coolie, Bennett. Lockett, and Thompson. What cf Thodey. Morton. Morris, and Greig? I cannot understand the selectors’ choice. Why! There are many whose choice must come before any of them. I have personally seen these players in action on numerous occasions and never, for a moment, thought that they were more than keen players. As for the last mentioned, Greig, it seems that the selectors are trying to encourage him. as he is but a novice. One has but to see him in action or have but a glance at his record for the season to be convinced of my contentions. I would like to substantiate my remarks, Mr Editor, by facts " and figiires. but I know your space is limited.—l am, Yours etc.. “CRICKETER.”
