HEAVY DAMAGE. HOUSES AND SHOPS AT GYM PIE SUBMERGED. BRISBANE, Jan. 26. - The heavy rains continue in various parts of the State anil the extensive damage done to the railways will involve the department in a. huge expenditure. Reports from the-Rail-way Commissioner show that rain is falling heavily in the South-eastern division, causing flood troubles 111 different sections of the railways. Reports from various country tilitres states that enormous damage lias been caused by the raging streams and flood waters. The Mary River at Gympie is still rising and has submerged all the houses and shops in the low-lying parts. The town of Maryborough is also threatened by the flood and business people re preparing to move their goods. -U.P.A. FLOODS SUBSIDING IN QUEENSLAND. (Received Jan. 26. 8.60 p.m.) BRISBANE, Jan. 26. The weather is now clearing, and it is hardly likely the river will overflow its hanks, though turbulent waters are sweeping through the city and are carrying dead cattle, pigs, branches of trees. The water is also thick with dead fish. There has been much activity in the city shifting goods to higher levels. The low-ly-ing parts in the metropolitan area are miniature lakes.
