(To tho Editor.) Sir, —In reference to the wreck of the s.s. Boogum which turned turtle when going to the wreck of the Northumberland in Napier in 1887, Mr J. Lyell informs mo that Ins uncle who was in the engine room of the Boogum was saved by chngmg, to a grating until picked up. Thoughhe could not swim he was only man saved. All the crew of the Northumberland were saved _ mainly through th bra’very of a Napier man namd Bob Lysnar, who swam out through the raging sea. and carried a line ashore by which line the men were drawn ashore.- -I am, Yours etc., H.
