The receipts for the three days have been £127 13s, £345 16s 3d, and £l5O 8s 6d. makng a total of over £623 7s -9d.—P.A. POVERTY BAY ASSOCIATION WAIAPU CHALLENGES FOR KIRK CUP At the weekly meeting of the P.B. Cricket Association last evening, Mr H. E. Maude presided over the following delegates: Alessrs A. Baker, H. Chrisp, G. J. Robertson, L. Greig, F. Bennett, J. McDonald, and R. Gumming (hon. sec.) Apologies for absence were received from Messrs A. C. Cooke and V. R. MitA telegram was received from the Taranaki Association suggesting Februarv 4 and 5 as the dates for the Hawke Cup match against Poverty Bav. It was suggested that February 3 and 4 would suit local players 'better and it was resolved Taranaki be communicated Avith asking for the match on February 3 and 4. A letter Avas received from the Waiapu Association accepting the proposed terms for the Kirk Cup com pt it ion. Waiapu also- forwarded a challenge for the cup and asked that the ""match be played on f thru ary 9 and 10. It was resolved that a later dm - for this mach ho asked far, unless. the Taranaki match lie cancelled and a letter explaining the position is to be forwarded to Waiapu. . In connection with the suggested fireworks display at the Oval. _ the chairman reported that, after interA'leAving various persons concerned, the sub-committee had decided that it was not advisable to proceed with the scheme at present. The Association confirmed this view and the offer was therefore declined. On the motion of Mr Chrisp, it was decided that play should not be postponed on race days. , Permission Avas granted the Celtic Club to' play matches against Tokomaru and Waipiro on dates to be arranged. , Positions of senior teams were reported to be : Celtic 12 points, High School 11, Old Boys 8, Gisllorne 7, Poverty Bay 6, City 6. HAWKE CUP LOCAL PLAYERS FOR PRACTICE DATE OF MATCH UNCERTAIN At the meeting of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association last evening, the Poverty Bay selectors, Messrs A. C. Cooke and V. It. .O. Mitford, submitted a list of sixteen players to attend practice- with a view to selection for the trip to New Plymouth to play Taranaki in the Hawke Cup challenge match. The meeting approved the selection and decided that players should he asked to state definitely whether in the event of being finally selected,, they could make the trip. An opinion was also expressed that if a good team is not available to travel the trip should be cancelled, owing to* the big expenditure involved'. Taranaki have suggested February 4 and 5 as the dates of the match, but the local Association consider February 3 and 4 would bo more suitable and Taranaki are being asked for the altered dates. A practice pitch will be available at the Oval every night and players must attend a reasonable number of practices or they will not be considered in the final selection.' Those selected are : H. F.
