FOREIGN VESSELS AGAIN CQMMAiN LEERED. EVACUATION OF BRITISHERS AT ■ SIANFIT. OUTBURST AGAINST FOREIGNERS. PEKIN, Oct. 13. Foreign vessels in the upper Yangtse have again been commandeered, irrespective of their nationality. Five recently transported troops down-stream, whither an emissary proceeded to Sianfu recently to arrange for the evacuation of. British missionaries who were detained by soldiers. He sent a telegram to the British Legation at P'ekin stating that due assistance -had been rendered by the Governor of Shensi province. Most of the foreign missionaries in Sianfu lia.ve safely evacuated the town. Two fresh outbursts of anti-toreign-ism occurred at Chengteh, Hunan province, • and Ningpu, Chekiang, where British property was attacked, in several instances with personal violence.—A.N.Z.U.A.
CHINESE FIRE ON FRENCH GUNBOAT. PEKIN, Oct f 13. It is reported that ChinesqFtroops between Wusueh and Kiukian, fired on the French gunboat Alefte; killing one sailor and wounding, another. The French admiral, with two gunboats, left Shanghai for the scene.— Sun.
