AIR, A. E. COPPING

Tiie death occurred last night of Air Arthur E. Copping, who held the post of editor of the Stratford 'Evening Rost from 19-04 till'his retirement in October last.—P.A.
The late Air. Copping was one of the best-known journalists in New Zealand. He started his professional career with the AVairarapa “Daily Times,” of which he subsequently became editor, and later Joined the “Christchurch Press” as sub-editor. « fn 1904 he acquired an, interest i> the Stratford “Post,” and took un tbt! duties of managing-editor, which he performed with much success until last year, when he relinquished the position. Pie then oamc-~tb Gisborne as associate-editor of the "Poverty Bay Herald,” lint after six months in this district ill-health oo.nliidled him to return to Stratford. During his brief residence in this town Mr. Copping made.many friends rio whom the news of his death will come as a shock. Quiet, and unassuming in his manner, he was held in high esteem by his journalistic conjferes throughout the'Dominion,.. .He flea res a widow and three daughters.
