LONDON’S SUMMER FASHION
COLD TINSEL ROUND ANKLE
ninety shillings a pair
(Received April 13, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, April 12. The most startling secret in London’s summer fashions revealed by the Drapery Exhibition is the attempt to popularise roll-top stockings which had a most successful vogue in America. The designers declare many will be worn by fashionable womerJ in the summertime. Tire designs conclusively prove that the short skirt is remaining. This has caused considerable attention to bo devoted to stockings, many of which are extraordinary in design. The most novel one shows colored flowers woven in front. Others are known as “Bracelet” stockings, whereon an eighteen carat gold tinsel is worked round the ankles in bewildering color tints with the object of obtaining as near as possible the natural color. The prices range up to ninety shillings. The entire frocking is of the flimsiest, with gaily-flowered surfaces. Gauntlet gloves will be embroidered, with cornflowers, pansies and poppies. —A. and N.Z.O.A'.
