.Mr. H. Grimstead, of Palmerston North, is at present a visitor to Gisborne in the interests of the new campaign movement of the New Zealand Alliance.

At a meeting of the Wellington Presbytery yesterday a call to the Rev. \j. Shaw, of ivhandailaln from the Presbytery at Hastings, Hawke’s Bay, was discussed and the call was sustained., the Rev. J. Shaw accepting —P.A.

New Zealand is to be represented at the Toronto Exhibition. Mr. Collins, Secretary .of the Industries Department, will be Deputy Commissioner, and Air. Marshall, of the Tourist Office, will assist him. , No commissioner has yet been appointed. —P.A.

j- The death occurred yesterday of K Air Alfred Parkinson, a Alaori war veteran and a pioneer settler of Opotiki, at the age of 75. Air. Parkinson arrived in New Zealand nearly oS years ago, coming to Opotiki in--1868. He saw 30 years’ service in the Opotiki Volunteer Rangers and constabulary. He received the King s Badge, the New Zealand Aledal, and -was created a King’s Empire veteran. —P.A.

The question of the status of Dr. Gibb was discussed yesterday at the Wellington Presbytery. The Rev. J. Cromerie moved that Dr. Gibb be granted the position of senior minister of St. John’s congregation with the duty of preaching when-mutually agreed upon between him and his successor, and that the Presbytery refer the question of .Dr, Gibb’s stato the Assembly with the view to determining whether Dr. Gibb shall remain senior minister or be granted the position of minister emeritus.
