A CYCLIST’S DEATH
RUN OVER BY MOTOR CAR
COUNTY ENGINEER; ARRESTED ON MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE.
INVERCARGILL, M’arch 29. " At the conclusion of the inquest on the death of Frederick Witty, who was killed on North Road on March 8, the Coroner returned a verdict that deceased met his death through being run over by a car driven by John Guy Dennison. Dennison is the engineer engaged by the Southland County Council to supervise the ’work of bituminising the North Road. Evidence showed that the deceased who was riding a bicycle, bad been struck from behind, and thrown against the windscreen. Dennison was arrested on a charge of manslaughter, bail being allowed one surety of £2OO. Accused was remanded to appear on April /.-••• PA. . - • .
