YANKS’ AIR FLEET
PLANS FOR NEW DIRIGIBLES BASE ON PACIFIC COAST (Received Jan. 30, 5.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 29. The navy plans for the expenditure of fourteen million dollars over a five year period for lighfcer-tlian-air craft. This development was described before the House Navah Committee on Friday by Rear-Admiral William Moffett, Naval Air Chief. The money, lie said, would he used for two dirigibles of six million cubic feet capacity and to cost four million dollars each and for a training dirigible to cost a million and a-lialf dollars and for tlie establishment of an air base on the Pacific coast to cost. four and a-lialf million dollars. Admiral Moffett also proposed to expend 1,650.000 dollars annually for the maintenance of the existing lighter-than-air facilities.—Reuter.
