SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE
A NORTH ISLAND REQUEST. AUCKLAND, Jan. 28. The question of the establishment of a. school of agriculture for tbe North Island was fully discussed at a special meeting of ~t h© Council of the Auckland University College. The Council came unanimously to tne conclusion embodied in the following resolutions: 4 ‘That tins council is o opinion that the interests of agricultural education in Auckland province and in New. Zeauand generally will he best promoted by means of a combination between the Auckland and v 1 - toria University Colleges m tne North Island”; “that m order to scciue that result, a conference should be held in Wellington by representatives from each college council as , c . arl s possible to consider the question and prepare a scheme for co-operation in the establishment and control of such agricultural college’: that tbc sident and Professors Segar and Woiley be appointed to represent this council at such conference and ie-nrn-t to the council at another special meeting”. In pursuance of these resolutions, the Hon. Geo. Fowlds will lotiv€ Auckland, on Moiiduy evening to attend the conference of college representatives to be held next Tuesday morning at Victoria College, where he will be met by Professors Segar. Worley, - and Riddet, who will meanwhile arrive from the south.. ihe whole question will then receive full discussion, by representatives of the tivo : colleges; and from the; • attitude of the Auckland council it is quite certain' that no parochial sentiment will enter into the. treatment of the matter at the conference.—F.A.
