GERMAN SPIES IN POLAND. (Received Jan. 26, 1 a.m.) WARSAW, Jan. 24. A big spying organisation, working on behalf of Germany, has been dis--covercd, according to the newsp iners. Three leaders and numerous . oeornplices have been arrested and a considerable quantity of compromising documents have been seized. The alleged spies have wide connections in aristocratic ancjl military circles.— Reuter. LORD STONEHAVEN ’S BIPLANE. (Received Jan. 25, 5.5 p.m.> LONDON, Jan. 24. The Daily Telegraph states that on the 8450, a biplane being built at. the Do Haviland works for Lord Stonehaven’s use on his official tours as Governor-General of Australia, there will be a cabin for four passengers and the machine can be quickly converted front a land' plane to a seaplane. AUSTRALIA AND GERMAN MIGRANTS. (Received Jan. 25, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 24. Following upon a discussion at the Ladies’ Imperial Club, Mr D. G. Somerville has sent to the Press an explanation that he advocated the actmission of German immigrants to Australia only as part of his argument that more whites must he settled there. He admitted the danger of a colored invasion anct 1 said it would also act as a safety valve Tor the congested population of Central Europe, which was aggravated by the fact that Germany did not now possess Colonies.—A.N.Z.C.A. A POLICY OF CONFISCATION. (Received Jan. 25, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 24. The Daily Herald’s Berlin correspondent says: The Socialist and Communist parties are acting together tor the first time since the war, jointly introducing a bill in the Reichstag, demanding a plebiscite upon the question of the confiscation of the prohperty from all royalties without idemnihcation .-—Sun. ■
