NEW ZEALAND SWEEP
POLICE IN A QUANDARY. WHO SHOULD GET £l6O SEIZED ? SYDNEY, Oct. 2S. The police are puzzled as to what to do with £l6O seized in. Freeman s office in connection with the New Zealand sweep case. The money appears destined to go into the Government revenue: but the question is whetlici the New South Wales or New Zealand Government should get it. The police state it is impossible to return the money to hundreds or people in New Zealand who sent lor tickets, as the letters came from all parts of the Dominion. It aso is questionable if the money would be claimed, as it is illegal to participatein sweeps and lotteries .in New Zealand, and the buyers of tickets are hardly likely to claim tlie money. Ihe police are awaiting advice from the; New Zealand authorities before taking any action.—A.- and N.Z.C I .A. ;
